Tillman Taylor was sheriff of Umatilla County, Oregon during 1920. He was shot during a jail break. Someone had managed to get a gun to the prisoners. Five men escaped. They were all caught later 3 were hung and two got life sentences. There is a statue of Til Taylor in Til Taylor park in Pendelton.
