"The Beard"

Andrew Jackson Hayes, was born in Grand Township, Wetzel County, West Virginia, 12 Jan 1847. He came to Wright County, Minnesota with the family in 1869, While a young man he took 56 acres of the farm and started agricultural operations on his own account. Gradually he added to this tract until he owned 270 acres of good land in section 6, Franklin. He took a special interest in farm development and was a director of the Farmers' Co-Operative Store at Montrose Minnesota. Mr. Hayes was married 8 Mar 1882, to Stella Streeter. That had a large family with 14 children.
